Colleagues,
Now that I have become a bit more familiar with my new role as chairperson of the UC Brain Tumor Center Community Advisory Board, I spoke with Dr. Warnick, Tom and Kimbaird about the best way to keep a dialogue going between all of us on a regular basis. We all agreed that a re-formatted version of the Advisory Board Blog is the best idea, so we have adapted it for a brief weekly update to you, from me. Please feel free to respond, share ideas and thoughts, as together, we move the Brain Tumor Center forward. Here's our first entry:
If you happened to read through a copy of this month's Cincinnati Magazine, you no doubt saw the 2010 listing of Top Doctors in Greater Cincinnati. I am happy to report that nine physicians of the Brain Tumor Center made this prestigious list. The are part of the 40 physicians within the UC Neuroscience Institute who received the recognition.
Top Doctor honorees from the UC Brain Tumor Center include:
Neurosurgery: Christopher McPherson, M.D., John M. Tew, M.D., Philip
Theodosopoulos, M.D., Ronald Warnick, M.D., and Mario Zuccarello, M.D.
Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat/head and neck surgery): Yash Patil,
M.D., Myles Pensak, M.D., Ravi Samy, M.D.
Radiation Oncology: John Breneman, M.D.
This is an incredible testament to the skill, commitment, and quality of our Brain Tumor Center team. According to staff at Cincinnati Magazine, they developed this year's Top Doctors list by sending surveys to all of the 5,297 area physicians with current medical licenses. Doctors who received at least five votes from their peers were included on the list. This is not the first time our physicians made this type of list. In fact, several were also named to a similar listing in the December 2009 issue of Cincy Magazine. This issue also included a feature article called "Top 17 Medical Breakthroughs," which highlighted the Brain Tumor Center's work with radioactive seeds. However, this is the first time we can celebrate these accomplishments together as an active and evolving board!
Congratulations to all!
Sincerely,
Kathy Beechem, Community Advisory Board Chair
